This Day in History: 1483-09-15

On 15th September 1483, Richard III’s court was at Pontefract after Edward of Middleham’s being knighted and invested as Prince of Wales at York. The Middleham household-book mentioned that five marks (£2800 in today’s money) were paid to Michell Wharton for bringing the prince’s jewels to York for his investiture.
