This Day in History: 1648-09-03

1648 On 3rd September 1648, Royalists Sir Hugh Carteret and Sir John Digby were allowed to go on parole to confer with Sir Marmaduke Langdale, held prisoner at Nottingham, regarding the surrender of Pontefract Castle. Negotiations failed and the castle held out out for a further six and a half months.
