DESCRIPTION:Our final talk of the year will be 'The Three Sieges of Pontefr
 act Castle'\, when Civil War historian David Cooke will join us.\n\nOliver
  Cromwell once said that Pontefract Castle was 'one of the strongest inlan
 d garrisons in the kingdom... and very difficult to mine'. Throughout the 
 Civil War\, Pontefract would play a key role in the struggle for supremacy
  in Yorkshire and the North of England. Join us to learn about the three k
 ey sieges of Pontefract Castle and why Pontefract would be the last Royali
 st stronghold to fall\, months after the execution of King Charles I.\n\nT
 ickets for this event are £3 per person\, which goes towards the upkeep o
 f the castle. Places can be booked via the staff at Pontefract Castle.\n\n
 Doors open at 1:30 pm for a 2:00 pm start.  The talk will last about an h
